I keep getting slated as a “catering” server for small events with a 22% service charge. The issue is I’m ringing in the orders for the events, I’m doing separate checks for the people attending, and I only get 54% of the service charge. So people think they are tipping me 22% but really I’m only getting 11-12%.
I work as both a event catering attendant and a server – separate jobs at the same location. I feel I’m getting taken advantage of since I work both sides.
Any input is extremely helpful.
Also, if I do a private dining with the restaurant I only get 73% of the 22% service charge.
None of this covers the 10% bartender tip out.
