Most people who watch and enjoy a controversial show are probably indifferent about the controversies in it. When we take the show away from them because it allegedly offends a minority group, they’d automatically associate that entire group with the cancelling of their favorite show. This results in them having negative feelings about that group even though they were indifferent about them in the first place. When in reality these complaints often do not necessarily represent the entirety of that group. If our ultimate goal is to protect that group from hatred, I don’t believe such actions will help in the long run. submitted by /u/RealSoupNazi [link] [comments]

This was amazing advice my lawyer gave me when I got divorced. Each of them billed $250 an hour. He told me about couples he's seen spend so much arguing over the couch, china hutch, whatever, they could have each bought one brand new with money to spare. It definitely kept things in perspective. submitted by /u/ilovejackiebot [link] [comments]
LPT: When buying a car (not leasing) ask the dealership if they have any “rewinds” (most of them call it this): These are newly leased or bought cars that got returned for finance reasons, in under a year. They usually sell for 8-10% less and are still brand spanking new.

LPT: thinking about investing but find it confusing or too risky? Well, dont invest. Instead just take that money, and pay more than your minimum balance on your credit cards or car payments

Even though it may feel like there is “no return” or “no gain” from it, or may feel like you are throwing money away, its not. Not only will paying credit off early free up hundreds, or even thousands of dollars every month, since you will no longer have monthly payments, but if you pay it off early you will literally save thousands on interest. Meaning, you get the car, or whatever cheaper than what you and the banks agreed too. Who wouldnt want that? Saving money is the same as gaining money, dont just “get used” to your monthly payments and stick with them, pay off early if possible, future you will love you for it. submitted by /u/thee-chum [link] [comments]

The partner might think your ex deleted the chat to hide something. This only works with unhealthy couples who go through each other's phones. But if your ex was unhealthy enough to date you, chances are they didn't learn their lesson and this will work! submitted by /u/ThatOneStoner [link] [comments]
LPT: If you are a guy(or really anyone, but male-identifying people might experience this more) and you want to ask someone for their number but are afraid of seeming creepy, ask them, “hey can I give you my number?”

Clearly don't just randomly ask strangers if you can give them your number. But if you have a nice chat, and you aren't entirely sure if they're feeling what you're feeling, I've found this a great way to ask. Gives them the ability to to say yes or no, and even if they say yes they don't have to feel like they're giving out their personal information. Additionally, if they do say yes and hand you their phone, do NOT assume it's cool to text yourself from it. Unless they specifically mention something like that to exchange numbers. Hopefully that's all obvious information. submitted by /u/PNWisthebestofthewes [link] [comments]
